“A lawsuit from 19 Oregonians, 3 Californians and one Washingtonian seeks to stop Anheuser-Busch InBev from buying SABMiller, on the grounds that it would create an unfair marketplace place for other beer companies, controlling consumers’ options.
‘Why do we want to allow one entity to control that market? I don’t think it’s good for consumers, I don’t think it’s good for industry, I don’t think it’s good for the tax base, I don’t think it’s good for any of that’ said DeHoog, the lead plaintiff.
The lawsuit, though, is not coming from breweries who are crying foul. Christopher Cauble, a Southern Oregon lawyer who has joined forces with San Francisco attorney Joseph Alioto on the case, said they want to stop the sale before it happens, which is when craft brewers could mount a legal challenge.”
